Carol Jeanne Skaggs, Age: 84

Carol Jeanne Skaggs, 84, of Oak Grove, passed away peacefully Aug 25, 2025. She was born Sept 2, 1940 at General Hospital in Kansas City, Mo., to Dewey and Doris (Rickerson) Hames.

 

Carol worked at Fikes Industries and Haldex in the quality control department.

 

Carol attended New Life Church and she so much loved and appreciated her church family and the special friends in her church groups Sassy Seasoned Sisters and the 50 Plus group. She had a generous heart full of compassion for others, often offering love and support to those around her.

 

Carol loved golf and bowlingShe was an avid bowler for many years, a pastime that brought her great joy and allowed her to connect with many friends. She was a part of many weekly bowling leagues and women's bowling tournaments.  She was a big Chiefs and Royals fan and even got her picture taken with Dante Hall when battling her second bout with cancer. She also loved antique collecting. But most of all she loved being with family. Carol dearly loved all her family and the family gatherings especially Thanksgiving and Christmas. She loved getting to hear all the children, grandchildren and great grandchildren play music and sing.

 

Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Earl Skaggs, Jr., her parents and a brother Gary Rickerson and a sister Mary Prince.


Her survivors include her children, Terrie Brooks and her husband Ronald Brooks,  Randy Frampton and step-daughter, Kathy Raker, all of Odessa Mo.; a brother Paul Hames and wife, Robin, of Grain Valley, Mo.; Seven grandchildren: Joseph Brooks and wife Shelli of Topeka, Ks., Daniel Brooks of Blue Springs, Mo., Ron Brooks and wife, Sandy of Odessa, Mo.,  Valerie Robinson and husband Brian, Kristen Frampton, Nikki Frampton, and Tyler Frampton all of Oak Grove, Mo.; and  nine great-grandchildren: Samuel, Silas, Lydia, Lincoln, Ryan and wife Morgan, Bethany and husband Nate, Connor and wife Katlyn, Samantha and husband Derrick, and RJ.

 

A celebration of life will be held August 18, 2025 at New Life Church, 801 SW 1st St., Oak Grove, MO, 64075. Visitation will begin at 11:00 am followed by a service at 12:00 and a reception immediately after the service also at the church.  Graveside service will follow the reception at 2:00 pm at Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, MO. where she will be interred with her husband.
