Obituaries detail

Ronald Leroy Faust, Age: 82
Jul 27, 1943 - Nov 20, 2025
Ronald Leroy Faust died November 20, 2025 in Kansas City, Missouri at age 82.  Dr. Rev. Faust was born July 27, 1943 in Eugene OR.  After college, he moved to Missouri to serve as minister for the Disciples of Christ churches in Huntsville, Clever, Lake of the Ozarks, and Smithville MO.  Ron was a prolific author and poet with 17 published books about parenting, poetry, a novel, a memoir, and other published works.  His doctoral dissertation was about Leisure Ministry, which included a sense of play, love and connection to the deeper meaning of life.

He was a peace activist and member of PeaceWorks, Disciples Peace Fellowship, and American Friends Service Committee.  Ron was recognized immediately by his cap and beard, and enjoyed talking on a deeper level with friends, family and new acquaintances.  His smile and laughter was magnetic. He and his wife of 56 years enjoyed awe-inspiring adventures, skiing on mountaintops, golfing, canoeing, hiking, traveling, and sunsets on their aptly named "Sabbatical" sailboat.

He loved and supported the performing arts.  In college he directed and acted in plays and supported community theater.  One of his greatest joys was attending the dance and music performances of his children and grandchildren.

A memorial service will be January 18, 2026 at 3:30pm at Community Christian Church 4601 Main Street Kansas City.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Bertha Minnick and Wallace Faust, and sister Ruthann Shetler.
At his side include his loving wife Toni Faust, and children Jeremy Faust (Jessica) and Tuesday Faust (Brian Barnhart) with 5 grandchildren.

Survivors include siblings Jean Wellman of Trout Lake WA, Deanna McKee of Salem, Utah, Myrna Jo Morales of Buckeye AZ  and Garold McKee of Seattle.

Ron always had a smile. He was a gentle, kind soul. As a child, I got to see him minister and was proud he was my Uncle. Ron and Toni were very adventurous and everyone was so happy to see them after the long car trip to Grandma and Grandpa’s at Christmas. I have many sweet memories that I hold onto. Ron has left a legacy with his family and writings. My sincere sympathy goes out to all who knew him. We will all see him again. Blessings to the family!

I always loved seeing Ron. He always seemed to be happy and was so easy and interesting to talk to. I wish I could have seen him more often but living 2000 miles away or so made that hard. I hope that you, Toni, Jeremy, Tuesday can find the strength to get through this difficult time without too much struggle. Remember the good times and know that the pain does get easier to bear with time.

With fond memories of a man of peace. The picture of Ron with his obituary is just a perfect image of who he was!

I will miss my weekly coffee with Ron. He always gravitated toward love and justice. He hated passwords because they created barriers to his writing. He also worked steadily to blast the barriers to human rights, to "good trouble", and to vibrant democracy. I used one of his poetry books as a daily devotion!
