Richard Wynn
Mar 10, 1941 - Dec 02, 2025

Richard Wynn was born on March 10, 1941 and went to fish with Jesus on December 2, 2025. He was born to Linora & Marvin Wynn. After Marvin Wynn’s passing Linora married Basil Brown, the man who was “Dad” to Richard and his siblings. He grew up in and around Shenandoah, Iowa and graduated from Shenandoah High School.

During and after high school he worked for Safeway in Shenandoah. He married Lorna Herzberg in 1961and then began a 30-year career selling shoes for Brown’s Shoe Fit Company. They spent their 64-year marriage raising their family between Maryville, MO and Oskaloosa, IA. In 1988, he received his AA from a computer maintenance repair program at Indian Hills Community College and began a short career selling computers. His final career involved selling Voortman Cookies in Sioux City, IA and Lincoln, NE where he was lovingly known as the “Cookie Man” to his family and the neighborhood kids.

After retirement, Richard and Lorna spent summers in Minnesota spoiling their grandchildren and (for Richard) fishing almost every day. He was a man who loved his family including his siblings, siblings-in-law and his many nieces and nephews. He had a strong faith, strong opinions, a wicked sense of humor and an affection for a beer at the end of the day. His  favorite beer was a cold one.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Linora & Basil Brown; his in-laws, Lester & Mabel Herzberg; brother and sister-in-law, Morise & Joyce Wynn; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Lyle & Pat Herzberg; and a niece and two nephews. Great people create a great void when they leave this life and so he is missed by Lorna, his wife of 64 years; his daughters, Karen Wynn, Coleen Wynn, and Kim (Jay) Jamtgaard; granddaughters Karlee Jamtgaard and Kate Jamtgaard; sister/brother-in-law, Barb & Jon Smaha, sister-in-law/brother-in-law, Phyllis & Larry Hoover; many nieces and nephews; and many friends. In lieu of flowers, donate to your favorite charity in his memory, think nice thoughts about him or remember his family in prayer.

A celebration of life will be held in the spring.
