Audrey Beverly Stramara, resident of Lee’s Summit, MO for 10 years, after a period of in-home hospice care, died peacefully on 10 Jan 2026, age 91. Her remains have been cremated.
Audrey was born 7 Sept 1934 in Atlantic City, NJ to Frank Raymond Stokes and Violet Katherine Duke. Through her maternal line, she was a descendant of John Howland of the Mayflower. Audrey attended school in Atlantic City, and in high school was the head majorette and won several art awards. Audrey graduated from Moore Institute of Art, Philadelphia, PA in 1956 and has created artwork and did cross stitching ever since. She also worked as a fashion designer. Throughout her life she was active in her church, in Bible studies, prayer groups, and served as church librarian at St. Cecilia’s in Fort Myers, FL.
Audrey Stokes married Daniel F. Stramara on 25 May 1957 in Germantown, PA and they moved to Baltimore, MD where they raised three children. They then moved to Orwigsburg, PA in 1968, near to where Dan was born. After 20 years they retired to Fort Myers, where Dan died 19 Jan 2012. In October 2015 Audrey moved up to Lee’s Summit, MO where her son Daniel lives.
She is survived by three children and their spouses: Daniel & Clare Stramara, Jr. (Lee’s Summit, MO), Andrea Stramara (Fort Myers, FL), and Frank and Patricia Stramara (Orwigsburg, PA), as well as five grandchildren (in respective order): Julianna Stramara; Kevin Schlear and Alex Fretz; Frank Stramara II & wife Lindsey and Kyle Stramara & wife Lauren) as well as three great grandchildren Frank & Lindsey’s daughter Liliann, and Kyle and Lauren’s children Aleissia and Isaiah with another child due in May.
Friends are invited to the Visitation to be held Wednesday January 28 from 10:00 to 10:30 at Our Lady of the Presentation Roman Catholic Church 130 NW Murray Rd, Lee’s Summit, MO 64081, as well as the Funeral Mass 10:30-11:30, and then a light lunch for those who wish to stay.
Audrey’s ashes will be interred next to her husband sometime this Spring at St. Ambrose’s Cemetery, Schuylkill Haven, PA, following a Mass to be celebrated at St. Ambrose’s with family members, relatives, and local friends.
