Kermit Olive, 78, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away on February 3, 2026. Born on September 23, 1947, to Jim Olive and Rose Bush, Kermit was raised in Butler and Nevada, Missouri. He was a proud 1965 graduate of Nevada High School.
In 1966, Kermit answered the call to service by enlisting in the U.S. Army. Following his military service, he built a successful career in sales, dedicating the last 28 years to ROM/SafeFleet.
An athlete at heart, Kermit grew up playing baseball and cherished time with his cousins. He was an avid bowler and golfer, earning numerous accolades over the years, including several rings for achieving perfect 300 games. Above all, Kermit loved spending time with his family and friends, always ready to share a good story. His face would light up whenever he saw his great-granddaughter, Hazel, a joy that brought him immeasurable happiness. One of the true highlights of his life was his final trip to South Dakota, a journey he treasured deeply and spoke of often.
Kermit was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Stephene Olive; and his daughter, Julie Olive.
Kermit is survived by his daughter, Melissa (Tony) Ross of Pleasant Hill, MO; his step-daughter, Keri Swartz of Overland Park; grandson Dylan (Tori) Ross of Kansas City, MO; granddaughter Taylor Ross and fiancée Chesley Hull of Columbia; step-grandson Alex Estrada; great-granddaughter Hazel Hull and many relatives and friends.
Service Information: A visitation will be held from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM on February 10, 2026, at Big Creek Baptist Church (1517 State Route 7, Pleasant Hill, MO 64080). Military Honors and a memorial service will immediately follow, officiated by Pastor Byron Calloway.
Interment of his remains will take place at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville during a private ceremony at a later date.
