Milton D. Belzer

Jun 23, 1940 - Mar 04, 2026

Milton Belzer, 85, died peacefully at home on March 4th, 2026, surrounded by his family.

Milton was born June 23rd, 1940 in Winigan, MO to Mattie and Les Belzer. He was the oldest of 4 children. He is preceded in death by the love of his life, Ellen, his mother and father, brothers Phillip and Ron. He is survived by his brother Steve Belzer; sons David (Susan), Bob (Renea), Mike (Lisa), Danny (Jana) and Billy (Aaron), many nieces and nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Milton married Ellen Belzer in 1968. Milton and Ellen’s life together was grounded in a love for God, expressed by a loyalty to the St Elizabeth’s Catholic church as a member for over 58 years, including serving on the parish council. His and Ellen’s names are memorialized on a brick between the church and school.

Milton was defined by his deep work ethic. At 17, he moved from Moberly to Kansas City seeking opportunities, working for Vendo and American Greetings. Around 1970, started his own carpet cleaning business out of a small home office and a VW van. Through the 1980s he grew the business to include a carpet cleaning supply company serving his colleagues throughout the Midwest for many years. He was deeply respected in this professional community for his vast knowledge, honest dealings and good humor.

Active in scouting, Milton was Cub Scout Master for Troop 150 and later director of the Ad Altare Dei Catholic religious education program. His sons Bob and Dave achieved the rank of Eagle Scout, along with several grandsons.

An honorary lifetime member of Elks Lodge No. 26, his sociable nature and good humor were valued by his brothers and sisters in the lodge. His good heart and generosity of spirit led him to become chaplain, a position he valued deeply.

For many years you could find him at his lake house, spending all his free time, including holidays and vacations, with his treasured family and friends.

Milton leaves behind a legacy defined by humility and service. His generosity echoes through the life of his family. His example shows how one born with so little can achieve so much. His life has been a blessing and his memory resonates in the hearts of all who have known him.
