It was a pleasure to know Gwen and count her as a friend. I will miss her regular photo sharing of her beloved cat, Timmy, whose expressions Gwen seemed to be able to interpret and delight in like no other; her loyal love for the Chiefs; and the camaraderie she brought to all the circles she visited. Rest in peace, Gwen. You will be remembered and missed.

I met Gwen many many years ago on an internet forum. We became friends that lasted until her final days. Gwen had a love of many things, one being photography and many of the people she came to be close to she met on Flickr. She was someone who was supportive and would always be the first to research something you mentioned, providing links and data. Her profession at the hospital really was her calling, hence the name nfogoddess from years ago. We spent years talking about the shows we watched "together" like Survivor, Lost, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, endless sci shows and movies and I can't leave out the cooking competitions nor her love of British TV and movies. She also was a superfan of the Kansas City Chiefs and we were fortunate enough to have our teams play each other twice in the Superbowl. She was also a big fan of the hometown baseball team, but the Chiefs gave her more to celebrate. She also loved the Jayhawks. I will miss our throughout the day chats and texts, our morning routine of sending Wordles and Connections back and forth as well as Coffee Golf. Gwen did a lot of good and was loved by multiple online communities who all benefited from her kindness, humor and intelligence. We lost a good friend but we're all better off for knowing her. My condolences to her sister, nieces and nephews.

Gwen was an unusual person. She had a sort of subliminal puckishness--a quiet sort of mischievousness held just below the surface. I think that's a quality found in the best librarians. A sort of restrained joy in small things. My favorite Gwen moment came when she adopted her cat. When I asked her to describe him, she used a single word: phlegmatic. Gwen was the sort of woman who'd adopt a phlegmatic cat and call him Tim. That may not sound like praise, but it's a rare quality; it made her special. I'll miss her.

Gwen has been part of the fabric of my photography since early Flickr times. I always enjoyed her posts, and grew to love her dear Timmy. I feel so sad for this loss. I’ll miss her.
