Doris Edith Packham Ellis, 85, of Independence, Mo., passed away at home after an extended illness.

Doris was born in Baltimore, Md., September 30, 1940 to Thomas Packham and Doris Hindle Packham. 

Doris enjoyed her garden of flowers and plants. When her back yard was on the lake at Lakewood in Lee’s Summit, Mo., she enjoyed watching the ducks, geese and other wildlife that would pass through the yard. She maintained multiple bird feeders and was very good at identifying the different types of birds.  From an early age she loved to fish and go crabbing for Maryland Blue crabs.  She participated in weekly bowling leagues and tournaments, racking many awards.

She also enjoyed traveling and had visited most of the 50 states. Doris married E. Charles Ellis Jr., on November 28, 1958 (and they stayed together for 67 years).  She was a stay-at-home homemaker.

They had two children Deborah Ellis Triplett and Charles T. Ellis.  She also has a brother Thomas Packham in Ca. Included are three grandchildren and one great grandson.

She is preceded in death by her parents and son-in-law William Triplett, III.
