Thomas R. Grassy, 83, of Shawnee, Kansas passed away at home on April 16, 2026.
Tom was born 2/27/43 in Washington, D.C. He spent his early years in Milwaukee, WI and Saint Paul, MN. He moved to Kansas City area in the early 70’s to pursue a career in packaging sales. He was a salesman for Horner-Waldorf and Container Packaging before starting his own company T.G. Sales which he was still operating at the time of his death. Tom was also a veteran of the Air Force.
In 2014 he met Barbara Mann, his life partner and caregiver. Together they enjoyed traveling, golf, dining out, and spending time in the backyard listening to music. They also loved watching Sports together especially the Chiefs and KU basketball.
Besides, Barbara, Tom leaves behind three sons. Patrick (Holly) Grassy of Lawrence, Ks., Michael Grassy, Shawnee, Ks, and Daniel (Kim) Grassy, Linn Valley, Kansas, Eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, his half-sister, Karen Culley, Manakin Sabot, Va. , and the mother of his sons, Sandra Grassy, Kansas City, Mo.
A Celebration of Life and luncheon will be held on May 3 from 12-3 at 21415 W. 70th, Shawnee, Kansas 66218. Please come and share your stories about Tom, because if you don't have a story you don't know Tom.
