Larry W. Kirby (73) was a lifelong resident of Kansas City, Kansas. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on April 24, 2026, at his home. He attended Washington High School in Kansas City, Kansas.

He was a policeman in the KCK department for a number of years and then owned Kirby Bail Bonds. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Betty A. and Wilbur C. Kirby, and also by a brother, Terry Kirby.

He leaves a wife, Mary J. Kirby; a daughter, Nikki Metzger, and son-in-law Shawn; Daniele Stone and husband David; and son Joe Sherk; siblings Sherry Kirby and Jim Kirby; and a number of grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Dad, you will be missed for your out-there love of Chucky, the way you took excellent care of Mom and I, and your unforgettable personality.

An open-house style celebration of life will be held Friday, May 8th, from 4–8 PM at the Elks Lodge Overland Park, 10201 W 85th St, 66212.
