Michael A. Kick, Age: 71

Apr 05, 1955 - May 22, 2026

Michael A. Kick, 71, of Lee's Summit, MO passed away on Friday, May 22, 2026. Mike proudly served as a deputy for the San Diego Sheriff's Office for over twenty-five years, working in Hostage Negotiations, Detentions, and Court Services. Born April 5, 1955, Mike spent his early years as an only child to Georgia and Norman Kick, in Sunset Hills, MO.

He graduated from Lindbergh High School, Class of '73, and the University of Redlands, where he graduated with a BA in Business Management . After starting work in law enforcement, he moved to San Diego to continue his career and make lifelong friendships. When not working, Mike loved life and lived it to the fullest, usually while wearing a Hawaiian shirt. He could often be found in an Irish bar, Guinness in hand, surrounded by friends, old and new. He loved his Harley and spent his days riding along the coastline and back country roads of California. In his retirement, Mike returned to St. Louis to be close to family and friends (and watch his beloved Blues win the Stanley Cup!).

In 2020, Mike married his childhood sweetheart, Denise. Together, they bought a house outside Kansas City, where Mike stayed busy caring for dogs, entertaining grandkids, and watching the birds and wildlife in their backyard. He is survived by his wife Denise, daughter Lisa, grandson Brockton, step-children Anna, Lauren, and Nathaniel, grandchildren Kirk and Soren, and pups Bella Luna and Jack.

A Celebration of Life will be held on July 15, 2026 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Lake Shore Plaza Event Space, 9613 Lake Shore Dr., Lee's Summit, MO 64086. In lieu of flowers or gifts, please consider a donation in Mike's name to the Kansas City Pet Project or Wounded Warriors Foundation.
