Terry Ann Comfort, age 80, passed away peacefully on June 6th, 2026, in Overland Park, Kansas shortly after making the decision to begin hospice care.
Terry was born in Caney, Kansas to Wayne and Anna (Kamps)Miller on March 6th, 1946. She was the fourth of four children, being the baby of the family with 8 years between her and her closest sibling. She was a hard-working farm girl in her youth and engaged in multiple careers during her adulthood including hospital and university administrative work, founding a microfilm company with her former husband, Director of Events at Roy’s Gallery in Lawrence, Director of Sales and Catering at The Eldridge Hotel in Lawrence, and Director of Catering The Phillips Hotel in Kansas City. Just prior to her retirement, Terry worked as a receptionist at National American University.
Terry was a talented artist who loved to paint and crochet for friends and family, even starting a small side business with her daughter. Terry was a free spirit who enjoyed live music, reading a good book, and sharing martinis and good conversation with friends and family.
Terry is preceded in death by her parents, as well as her sister Sandy Lefebvre and brother Otis Miller.
Terry is survived by her children Eric Comfort (Rachel Comfort) and Colbi Chaffin (Darren Chaffin) and four grandchildren: Owen Chaffin, Henry Chaffin, Olivia Comfort, and Joe Chaffin. She is also survived by her sister Margaret Ripley as well as a loving extended family including many nieces and nephews.
As per Terry’s wishes, a formal service will not be held. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
