Shirley A. Boone passed away peacefully on June 20, 2026, at the age of 92. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Shirley’s life was filled with love, laughter, and countless cherished memories.
She is survived by her son, Troy (Meribeth); her granddaughter, Eva; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Sam; her parents, Glenn and Lowene; her sisters, Joanne, Gloria, and Connie; and her grandson, Trenton.
Shirley was an exceptional Army wife whose strength and dedication helped support her family through many chapters of life. Throughout the years, she worked in a variety of roles, including a clerk at Brandeis Department Store, an Avon representative, and as a receptionist at H&R Block. She also generously volunteered her time at several different hospitals. While she wore many hats throughout her life, the titles she cherished most were that of Mom and Grandma.
Known for her impeccable sense of style, Shirley loved shopping and always knew how to put together the perfect outfit. She was happiest when surrounded by family and friends.
Over the years, Shirley and Sam made homes in Nebraska, Iowa, the Lake of the Ozarks, Naples, Florida, and Kansas City, creating lifelong friendships and treasured memories wherever they lived.
Shirley enjoyed big band music and ballroom dancing, activities she shared with Sam throughout their 72 years together. She loved playing cards with family and friends, especially her grandchildren. Some of her favorite moments were spent sitting on the deck with a good book, soaking in the fresh air, and appreciating life’s simple pleasures. And if you happened to hear the familiar pop of a cold beer being opened at 4 o’clock, you knew Shirley was right on schedule.
Shirley will be remembered for her wit, resilience, and unwavering love for her family. Her presence brought comfort, laughter, and joy to those who knew her, and she will be deeply missed.
At this time, no services are planned.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages you to spend time with your loved ones or consider making a donation in Shirley’s memory to Wayside Waifs or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
