Barbara Frances Carter, of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away June 22, 2026. She was born February 12, 1934 in Kansas City, Kansas, daughter of Frances and William C Bradley, Sr. She was preceded in death by her husband, Stephen Benton Carter. She is survived by her children Bradley Carter (Nancy), Ellen Hoffmann (Paul), and Craig Carter (Terrie); seven grandchildren: Ryan Bradley (Katie), Casey Peck (Nathan), Adam Carter, Lauren Bradley (Paige), Rebekah Imondi (David), Leah Mandeville (Ethan), and Paul Carter (Megan); and 16 greatgrandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by her parents William C Bradley, Sr. and Frances Bradley and one brother, William C Bradley, Jr. Barbara moved to Lawrence, Kansas in 1945, and spent 58 years in Lenexa, Kansas. Barbara met Stephen in junior high school; they graduated from Lawrence High School in 1952 and married on June 7, 1953.
Barbara and Stephen were active members of the Lenexa United Methodist Church joining in 1960. Family was the center of her life. She loved hosting relatives and creating a home filled with warmth and love, and she attended with pride and joy the milestones and events of her children, grandchildren and great-grand-children. She worked in a junior high school office and enjoyed traveling and vacations. She was a constant source of support to those who needed her, and her contagious laughter brought joy to everyone around her.
She had a remarkable way of making each person feel valued and special.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Lenexa United Methodist Church at 11:00 Monday, June 29, 2026. Casual attire is acceptable and welcomed. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Memorial Giving, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
