Terry "Ray" Raymond Kahrs

Terry Raymond Kahrs, known as Ray, of Leawood, Kansas, died on Sunday, July 26, 2026. He was born on Veterans Day, November 11, 1941. He would joke each birthday that they had parades just for him! He was born in the Los Angeles, California area, the son of Herbert and Doris (Clark) Kahrs.

Ray grew up in Riverside, California. He graduated from Ramona High School in Riverside on June 19, 1959, and went on to attend the University of California.

He worked as a brick mason for many years before being promoted to superintendent, working for several large companies in the Los Angeles area. When he moved to Kansas in 1995, he worked for JE Dunn in Kansas City.

Ray had two great passions: flying and cars, especially Corvettes. He loved flying and enjoyed holding his private pilot's license for many years. His second love was cars, with Corvettes being his absolute favorite. As a past member of the Topeka Corvette Club, he enjoyed many excursions, road trips, and sharing Corvette stories with anyone who would listen.

He is survived by his wife, Penny Kahrs; 5 children; a stepdaughter; 15 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a brother (Plentywood, Montana); and a sister (Kingman, Arizona).

A private family graveside memorial will be held at a later date.
