George Winston Peeler II, Age: 76

Nov 03, 1949 - Aug 22, 2026

George Winston Peeler II, known to family and friends as Winston, passed away on August 22, 2026, in Kansas City, Missouri, from complications related to Alzheimer's disease. He was 76 years old.

Winston was born on November 3, 1949, at Research Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri. He attended Chinn Elementary School and Graden Elementary School in Platte County before the family's path led him to Grimsley High School in Greensboro, North Carolina. He went on to attend Wingate College, also in the Greensboro area, for two years before completing his studies at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Arizona, where he earned a degree in Business.

In 1971, Winston married the love of his life, Brenda Jane Fuhrman Peeler. Together they built a life rooted in hard work and family, one that would last until Brenda's passing in 2013. For over four decades, Winston brought that same dedication into the community, owning and managing both Gateway Center and Peeler Oil in Riverside, Missouri. Those who knew him professionally remember him as hard working and precise, a man whose word meant something and whose generosity extended well beyond the walls of his businesses.

Winston had deep roots in Platte County and the Riverside area and gave back to his community in many ways. He served as a Scout leader during his sons' youth, sat on the St. Matthew's Cemetery Board for many years, and served as an alderman for eight years in Riverside. Above all, he was known for his kindness and loyalty — to his family, his friends, and the community he called home. He found joy in traveling, in the outdoors, in cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs, and most of all, in the time he spent with the people he loved.

Winston has been the keeper of the family lore and stories for years, and will be remembered for the life he built, the businesses he ran with care, and the deep love he had for his family and his community. He leaves behind a legacy of generosity, hard work, and devotion that will not be forgotten.

Winston was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Brenda; his parents, George Winston Peeler and Betty Brenner Peeler Willhite; his sister, Linda Peeler Bohn Dellinger; and his grandson, Grain Winston Peeler.

He is survived by his two sons, Jeffrey Winston Peeler (Tiffany) and James Alexander Peeler (Amy), and two grandchildren, Rylee and Nash. He also leaves behind Tracey Westhoff, his devoted partner of eight years, along with his nieces Jennifer Bohn and Emily Bohn Enright, his nephew Wyatt Bohn, and his dear cousin, Jan Harden.

Funeral services and a reception will be held at St. Matthews Lutheran Church, 5047 NW Gateway Ave, Riverside, MO, on Saturday, August 29 at 4 PM. Graveside services will follow at East Slope Cemetery, 5011 NW Gateway Ave, Riverside, MO.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in Winston's honor be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Heart of America Chapter, benefiting KUMC, at 8001 Conser, Overland Park, KS.
