Pamela Clark, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 11, 2026, surrounded by her family and friends. Born on November 9, 1957, in Dayton, Ohio, Pamela was the cherished daughter of Lois Anne and Derwin Eugene Hider, both of whom predeceased her.
Pamela was a shining beacon of love and kindness, touching the lives of many throughout her 68 years. She is survived by her devoted husband, Bob Clark, with whom she shared 45 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they raised two loving sons, Jeff and John Clark, and a cherished daughter in-law, Emily King-Clark. Her family continued to grow with the addition of her grandchildren, Theodore Clark, Addison Showalter, and Charlotte Showalter, who filled Pamela's life with immense joy. Her close-knit family also includes her dear sibling, Ginny Stromme, and nephew, Troy Clark.
Pamela's academic journey began at Shawnee Mission East High School, from which she graduated in 1976. She furthered her education at Pittsburg State University, earning a Bachelor’s in Early Elementary Education in 1980. Her passion for education and nurturing young minds led to a fulfilling 40-year career in Childcare Development, where she made a lasting impact on countless families.
An active member of the Boy Scouts of America, Pamela's dedication to the organization was unwavering. She was a Vigil Honor member within the Order of the Arrow with Tamegonit Lodge at Theodore Naish Scout Reservation and an honorary member of the Tribe of Mic-O-Say through the H. Roe Bartle Scout Reservation. Her commitment to guiding young scouts was mirrored in her personal life, where she was affectionately known as 'Mom' to numerous scouts over the years.
Pamela's interests extended beyond her professional life. She was an avid gardener, a keen bird watcher, and enjoyed the camaraderie of family board games. Her quick wit, warm smile, and comforting hugs were legendary among those who knew her. Pamela had an innate ability to make everyone feel welcome, valued, and appreciated, a testament to her generous spirit and kind heart.
A celebration of Pamela's life will be held on September 26, 2026, at Camp Naish, located at 1100 Martinek Lane, Bonner Springs, KS, 66111. The service will commence at 12:00 PM, where family and friends will gather to honor her memory. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Heart of America Council Camp Naish Endowment Fund, a cause close to Pamela's heart. Pamela Clark will be remembered always for her unwavering love, her dedication to her family and community, and her boundless generosity.
To quote Dr. E. Urner Goodman, a sentiment cherished by her family, "He who serves his fellows is, of all his fellows, greatest."
